As the coach of a state championship winning girls basketball team, Daryl Fimple of Little Rock, Arkansas, knows a thing or two about motivating people.
But this year, Daryl’s skills came in handy off the court, too. With COVID-19 making back to school more stressful than usual, the dad found the perfect way to pump up his daughters, Katie and Payten, each morning.
Armed with props, music, and a hilarious sense of humor, Daryl started turning school drop-offs into mini motivational speeches!
The goal is to get the girls energized and excited for the day — and to make them laugh.
“It’s a lot of motivational stuff that I’ve gathered in coaching that is just real simple,” Daryl told GMA. “But then we kinda put our own spin on it and have fun with it and just kind of play it out.”
His characters are cheesy, but they offer valuable nuggets of wisdom, including, “Be the captain of your ship,” and to smile. While we’re almost certain these father daughter sessions have been accompanied by a few eye rolls, the teens have clearly grown to love them!
“It’s kinda like a good little pep start to the day,” Payten said.
And they aren’t the only ones! Daryl has been recording and sharing these drop-offs online, spreading joy to hundreds. His videos have even gone viral, inspiring people across the country!
“Just seeing people respond and say hey you made our days better and you know I get to enjoy time with these two and be silly and it makes my day better,” Daryl said.
Someone needs his own news segment! We’d certainly tune in for a dose of motivation each day. They already know it, but Katie and Payten are lucky to have such a fun dad!
Share to spread motivation and smiles to anyone who needs them!
