Nearly everyone in Dallas, Texas loves their basketball team: the Dallas Mavericks. But the Mavs love doesn’t end with just the team. The Dallas Mavericks Dancers (the team cheerleaders) and the Mavs Maniacs (superfans/”big man dance group”) are beloved Dallas icons, and this week the two groups reminded us why we love them so much with a show-stopping halftime performance!

Unlike a typical halftime, which would feature a routine by the Mavs Dancers, this halftime show was a dance battle: Mavs Dancers versus Mavs Maniacs… with a special surprise ending!
The dance battle featured both recent and throwback pop hits like Baha Men’s “Who Let The Dogs Out,” T.I.’s “Bring Em Out,” Ciara’s “1, 2 step,” and more. The best part might be the dance to Lil Jon’s “Get Low.” When the lyrics says, “Stop and wiggle with it,” the Mavs Dancers show off their twerking skills… and the Mavs Maniacs responding by lifting their shirts and jiggling their signature tubby tummies. It’s hilarious!
But when the dance battle escalates into a fight, the Dallas Police Department steps in to split it up… and then they break into the viral dance, “Juju On That Beat!”
The performance is especially meaningful in the wake of the still-recent shooting in Downtown Dallas. The city’s basketball team just showed the world that they support and love their police department. And the Dallas officers are giving their love right back!
