A good old-fashioned lullaby may be the tried and true trick for getting your restless baby to sleep, but– as dad Kevin Payne discovered– it’s not the only way.

Kevin’s 5-month-old son Carter is “not a good sleeper,” but Kevin may have just found the perfect solution to their bedtime woes. “I cannot carry a tune,” said Kevin, “so rather than sing him to sleep, I just talk about work until he drifted off.”

In the hilarious video below, Kevin explains all the ins and outs of his job as a “Technology Resiliency Manager.” As he gets into the riveting details of infrastructure testing, Carter begins to fade.
“Are you paying attention?” asks Kevin. Carter jolts awake. “This could be you one day– if you’re lucky.”

But– try as he might– Carter just can’t keep his eyes open. It may be poor manners on his part, but Kevin doesn’t look too upset by the slight.
