Dad With Alzheimer’s Cries When Daughter Reveals The Tattoo She Got Just For Him.

A man and his daughter hug. The daughter’s face can’t be seen but dad can be seen in tears.

Some of our most special memories can be tied back to a single image. For Isabel, waves remind her of her Dad and the time they spent together sailing, an activity he taught her how to do on her own. These moments meant the world to Isabel, which is exactly why she thought of them when her Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. From there, she came up with the idea to get a tattoo for him.

To represent all the time he spent teaching her how to sail, Isabel got a tattoo of two waves, one to represent herself and the other her Dad. Next to the wave is “’52” to represent the year he was born. A video capturing the moment Isabel shared her new tattoo with Dad captured hearts instantly, garnering nearly 3 million likes in less than a week.

In it, Isabel explains to her Dad why she got this particular design and what she hopes it will do for him in his difficult journey with dementia.

“Ever since I was little, it’s my favorite memory with you,” Isabel said, going on to say that the tattoo will “never fade and you’ll always remember it, and every day you see me, it will always remind you of us, and when you were born and the memories you helped me make.”

“I love you so much,” Dad replied through tears.
