Mom wasn’t the only one who was elated when her daughter with Down syndrome scored a great shot for her basketball team. In fact, the audience, the young girl’s teammates, and even the opposition erupted into cheers after the successful toss! Her mother, Kristie Hughes, shared a beautiful TikTok video of her daughter’s special moment. In the clip, she shared that this was the girl’s first time scoring that season!
Footage shows the player with Down syndrome attempting a few unsuccessful shots before finally sinking the ball into the basket. Her fellow team members were there encouraging her the entire way. When she landed the shot, the other girls jumped up at down with excitement!
“So many not so dry eyes,” Kristie wrote in her video.
Many commenters pointed out that the girl’s teammate, jersey number 00, deserves some serious appreciation for the way she helped out her friend with Down syndrome. She consistently made sure the other girl got the ball, and even gave her some tips on her form.
“To the parents of Jersey 00… We ALL need to publicly THANK YOU, that little girl is being raised right,” wrote one user.
What a proud moment it must have been for this young basketball player with Down syndrome! It’s great to see how much support she’s getting from her family and community.
