When Cristina Rae stepped onto the “America’s Got Talent” stage, she was determined to do more than sing a song. She wanted to change her life!
The single mother from Nashville, Tennessee, has loved music for as long as she can remember – and has gone through more than her fair share of tough times. In fact, when she was pregnant with her son Jeremiah, she was homeless and living in her car.

Jeremiah joined his mom onstage as she met judges Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel. She explained that she dreams of giving her son a better life using her talent as a singer. Her biggest hope? To someday buy a home so Jeremiah has a place to call his own!
With that emotional statement, Jeremiah took host Terry Crews’ hand and headed backstage so his mom could have the spotlight! She quickly launched into a gorgeous rendition of “In The Air Tonight” by Phil Collins and soon had the entire audience cheering.

Although she ended her song with a standing ovation from the crowd, Cowell wasn’t fully convinced they’d seen everything she had to offer.
He asked her to perform the second song she had prepared, only this time he wanted her to sing like she had just finished a successful concert and was doing an encore.
Without missing a beat, Cristina delivered a passionate version of The Rolling Stones’ “Gimme Shelter.”

Cowell’s face as he listened to her soaring vocals said it all! Once again, Cristina brought the audience to their feet… and this time all four judges joined them!
“Heidi and I were getting goose bumps!” Vergara gushed before voting Cristina into the next round.
Mandel told Cristina she “blew the roof off,” while Cowell followed up with the ultimate compliment: “There is only one way to describe your voice: It is insanely good.”

He continued, “Look, there is absolutely no point making shows like this unless we find people like you.”
As if these words of praise weren’t enough to make Cristina’s year, Klum saved the best review for last.
“I think you are absolutely out of this world,” she said. “My heart is racing for you right now, it really is.” Then she stood up and hit the Golden Buzzer to launch Cristina straight to the live show!
