In 2018, Loki King was born at only 25 weeks, and doctors told his parents he likely wouldn’t live to see his sixth birthday, but he defied the odds, so to mark the special day, two police officers gave him a special surprise.

As ABC affiliate Wear News 3 reported, Loki’s mother, Whittney, hoped to give her son, dubbed a “miracle preemie” a memorable day. Like many kids his age, he loves police officers and firefighters. So Whittney called her local PD and asked if they could send a patrol car to their home. She simply wanted the driver to flash their lights and wave.
But Pensacola officers Kenneth McMahon and Dave Patrick took the request several steps further. On Loki’s birthday, they showed up at his door with presents, more police officers, and several of their firefighter friends. And the first responders had a mini birthday party in the family’s front yard.
Loki got to spend some time getting to know the local heroes, and they passed the time while playing ball.
“We never expected him to see six,” Whittney told the outlet. “So thanks, and a huge shoutout to PPD for making that day special.”
Be sure to share the police officer’s special birthday surprise with your friends!
