Baby Duck Is A Certified “Stage 5 Clinger” In Adorable Cuddling Clip

Left Image shows Eleanor the clingy duck getting hugs. Right image shows owner Alissa trying to put the duck down.

The saga of Eleanor began with a viral video. Eleanor is a duck, and her owner placed her in the hood of her hoodie while she napped. That was mid-April. Fast-forward to now, and Eleanor is almost full-grown but remains a clingy duck.

Since Alissa adopted this little family of ducklings, Eleanor has been the clingiest of clingy ducks. Her goal has always been to stay as close to her human mom as possible. If her mom ignored the little duck, it would crawl into a shirt sleeve. The duckling has been this way since their first day together.

Imprinting is how an animal develops a connection with another animal. For ducks and other waterfowl, they will “imprint” on the mother duck and begin following her around. Ducks removed to farms within their first 14 days of life may imprint on a human. When an animal imprints, it sees another animal or person as a protector and provider.

As Alissa’s videos with Eleanor gained popularity, her fans suggested putting the clingy duck in an infant carrier. It worked, and Eleanor loves it. The idea is not so far-fetched, as the duck likes to be treated like a human baby, including being burped.

If you’re concerned that Eleanor spends too much time with her human, don’t worry; she also has duck friends. Her favorite place will always be near Alissa, but Eleanor is maturing into a beautiful adult duck.

If you can’t get enough of this clingy duck, follow Alissa and Eleanor on TikTok. Alissa also tends to chickens and a house full of foster dog friends, so something outrageous is always happening. What makes this video collection even better is Alissa’s hilarious commentary. Have Fun!
