The holiday season means getting family, in-laws, and extended family together. Depending on the size of your gatherings, you might be looking for fun games to keep people engaged. When Katie’s family had their gathering, they opted for something new that turned out to be fabulous! They did a Christmas wig exchange.

The festivities began with everyone donning a stocking cap over their real hair. The wig/gifts were on the floor in front of the entertainment center. During their “turn,” each person had to grab a bag and put on whatever wig was in the bag. There must not have been rules on what types of wigs as there was a wide variety.
Tension is high as the first contestant chooses a bag. Out pops a platinum mop of unruly hair. After placing it on her head, the proud recipient dances a little jig as the floppy wig bounces. The next wig was a 1980s-style heavy metal meets goth black wig. The third contestant was the first male to select a wig. After modeling the cute Christmas bag, he pulled out a floppy wig with loose dreadlocks.
Contestants modeled each wig, and there were plenty of laughs around the room. Some of the guys needed a little help getting their wigs on correctly. One contestant saw his Christmas wig, a pastel, rainbow-colored mop of unruly, wavy hair. He tried to exchange it sneakily but got caught.
Each Christmas wig exchange gift was met with endless laughter as the good-natured family members modeled their outrageous headwear. The family now has a five-member rock band, two businessmen, a school lunch lady, three clowns, and a dancing baby.
