Childhood Bully Sends Powerful Text Proving That People Can Change For The Better.

Text that has been cutoff that reads: I just wanted to let you know how sorry I am for how I treated you as a kid. I remember riding my bike down your street saying mean things. I was just a little bully. For years I have felt so bad and wish I could take it all back. I honestly don't even know why I did it! I remember you as being so kind to everyone at school! Not that it

There are moments in life that seem to stick with us no matter what, both good and bad. A common one is being bullied as a kid. Turns out, though, even the bullies themselves can get caught up in the past, wishing that things could have gone differently. In fact, according to Reddit user jawnova, one of his childhood bullies recently reached out so she could apologize — to say that he was shocked she reached out would be an understatement.

When he was little, his family would take in lots of stray cats. A group of girls from school would make fun of him for the way he smelled and would even ride their bikes by his house to mess with him. It became so much, he ended up changing schools because of it. Now, at 28 years old, jawnova has gotten the apology he’s always deserved.

Person 1: Hello! Did you go to (redacted) in (redacted) for elementary school?

Person 2: Yes I did. Until 4th grade

Person 1: I just wanted to let you know how sorry I am for how I treated you as a kid. I remember riding my bike down your street saying mean things. I was just a little bully. For years I have felt so bad and wish I could take it all back. I honestly don't even know why I did it! I remember you as being so kind to everyone at school! Not that it makes it any better but it was not personal. I was just a young girl with problems. I hope you can forgive me, even though I probably don't deserve it. I think about what I did often. Especially now easing my own little girl. I teach her to be kind to everyone. It's one of the most important things in our home. So once again I am so incredibly sorry for my actions and any pain it caused.

Jawnova responded by thanking her, letting her know that it had made his morning. But he also shared that he, too, had regrets from his childhood, and didn’t want her to be too hard on herself. He even let her know that her daughter sounds lucky to have a “mature and kind mother!”

And just like that, this conversation turned into one that both of them clearly needed. Here’s the rest of their conversation.

Person 1: Do you remember me? and time doing that? I just never want people to hurt because of my actions. I hate the thought of that so much. And it sounds like you turned out amazing!!! Your so kind even still!!!

Person 2: I do remember it actually. I remember hiding in my house

Person 1: Ugh I'm glad I found you and got to apologize. I truly am so sorry

Person 2: Really it's okay, I can laugh about it now. Don't let it bother you anymore

Person 1: Thank you, I hope you're doing well!!!! Thank you for being so kind. I hope life brings you all good things!

Taking accountability isn’t easy, but the results can be truly life-changing, both for the person getting the apology and the one giving it. And if this conversation shows us anything, it’s that change is always possible.
