Nurse Agnes Reyes has served in the same unit of the Chesapeake Regional Medical Center for 33 years.

Her commitment and dedication to her hospital staff and patients has not gone unnoticed. With 33 years of expertise under her belt, she’s sure to be missed!

Despite the fact Agnes is typically the last one to leave the hospital, her entire team stayed late to watch her clock out for the very last time.

“I really felt happy. I’m elated because after 33½ years, it feels like, ‘Oh my gosh, I hit a home-run,’” Agnes stated when asked about her final day in the hospital.

During her tenure at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, Agnes saw a lot of changes. There was a significant amount of nurse turnover during the COVID-19 pandemic, but Agnes remained committed to her work.

Her dedication and kindness had a big impact on the hospital team.

“She’s got the nurse’s heart and she’s very special,” said Stephanie Bustillos, nurse manager at Chesapeake Medical. “Of course, I was elated for her next chapter but at the same time, very sad because we are losing a very, very, very, very important asset to our unit.”

Agnes’s impact at the hospital will not be soon forgotten. She was a shining light in the unit for over three decades.

Watch Agnes receive well-deserved hugs, cheers, and love from her team members in the adorable video below.
