Training a K9 for police work takes time and effort. When you are also a cameraman, it can lead to some hilarious moments. The dog accompanies its handler during training to acclimate the animal to various situations. That togetherness led to this hilarious clip with a dog in training and its photographer trainer.
The photographer’s vest helps distribute the camera’s weight for easier carrying. The tennis balls (aka dog toys) are attached to the back of the vest to keep the photographer from backing into walls and other obstacles. The idea is that the balls will bump into something before the cameraman collides with an obstacle. They can also be stabilizer points if the photographer needs to lean on a wall.
On the photographer’s TikTok channel, you can view many of the dog training videos he shoots. The team seems to be based in Ukraine. He catches the dedicated dogs in their element, showing the amount of work required to train a K9 for police work. You can follow some of the dogs from puppyhood through to adulthood. There are also other videos that prove that the above “ball issue” is not an isolated event.
The dog is relentless, and it might be time to consider an alternative method to keep the photographer from bumping into walls. When these happy boys aren’t trying to steal tennis balls from their buddy’s vest, they are pretty cool doggos.
