There are some live performances that are so powerful, you feel lucky just to be sharing a room with the person singing, and Calum Scott’s unforgettable 2015 audition for “Britain’s Got Talent” is one of them.
The 26-year-old recruitment officer came to the audition with his sister not knowing what to expect. He was a bag of nerves, showing his shaking hands halfway through the performance, but what he managed to pull off onstage left everyone (even Simon Cowell) totally breathless.

Performing an acoustic rendition of Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own,” Calum had no idea that his life was about to change forever. As he sang, his proud sister stood backstage and wept over the beauty of his audition.
She had performed moments before Calum, and while the judges said no to her performance, she remained ever the devoted sister, standing nearby for support.

As Calum got into the music, audience members and judges alike were totally wrapped up in his emotional cover of the traditionally upbeat song.

But despite what his body showed in the way of nerves, Calum’s voice remained steady. He totally unleashed his vocal power in the second half of the song, even going a cappella for a few seconds.

It was easy to see that everyone in that room was floored by his talent. When he wrapped up his performance, he got a standing ovation from the whole house.
Then Cowell did something that brought Calum to tears. He hit the golden buzzer, revealing what he’d been thinking all along: This guy’s voice needs to be heard!

Since that moment, Calum’s life hasn’t been the same. He’s gone on to have a successful music career with his first studio album called “Only Human,” which was released on March 9, 2018.
