People are flocking to a unique café in Saskatoon that offers food, drink, and… cats? The Purrfect Cup is a place where cat lovers can hang out with adorable felines while enjoying a nice mug or glass of coffee. All of the resident kitties are also up for adoption! Owner Sydney Sylvester told CTV News that allowing guests to hang out and get to know the cats makes adopting a lot easier.

“All the cats are socialized all day with people and other cats, and they’re used to the hustle and bustle,” said Sydney. “People get to see them in their natural environment. At shelters they’re in their cages, it’s hard to see them when they’re cooped up.”

She added, “People have said that they love coming in there so they can see the personalities of the cats and they’ll choose one that meets their needs as a family for their home.”
The Purrfect Cup’s website includes an adoption page where customers can see the names, ages, and photos of available cats. In order to make sure each kitty goes to a good home, the café works with the Battlefords Humane Society. Before applying for adoption, future pet owners can read a cute, first-person bio of the cat they’re interested in. Sydney reported that 75 cats have been adopted since the business first opened.

Of course, not everyone comes to The Purrfect Cup to adopt a cat, and that’s fine, too! Local cat lover Kira Keating told CTV News that she’s a frequent customer because she’s not currently able to own a pet.
“I have to come live vicariously here, but that’s fine. I come once a week,” she said.

In order to keep their cats well-fed and comfortable, the café charges a small admission fee in addition to selling food and drinks. Entry is $8 for kids and $10 for adults. The Purrfect Cup also accepts donations.
