Since the 1970s, Bruce Springsteen has been a cultural icon in the world of rock — and his mom, Adele, has been by his side every step of the way. That’s why it’s all-the-more sad that just yesterday, Springsteen shared that she passed away on January 31. Over the years, even his fans have come to love his sweet mom.

While there was much to love about Adele, one trait that Springsteen especially loved was her adoration for dancing. This is something that never changed in her 98 years of life, even after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease over a decade ago. It’s no wonder, then, that Springsteen included a clip of Adele dancing when sharing the sad news on social media.

Bruce Springsteen Shares Heartbreaking Post for His Late Mom, Adele

In fact, Adele is known for joining her son onstage for a dance or two. It’s moments like these, I imagine, that Springsteen feels were the least he could do since she went worked so hard to make sure his dreams came true. This includes taking out a loan so a 16-year-old Springsteen could get a guitar.

“But the need to dance hasn’t left her,” Springsteen once said in an interview. “She can’t speak. She can’t stand. She can’t feed herself. But when she sees me, there is always a smile. Still a smile. And there’s still a kiss. And there’s a sound which she makes when she sees me. It’s just the sound but I know it means ‘I love you.'”

Fans from all around the globe are sharing their condolences. But even folks who aren’t fans of Springsteen are tearing up over his heartfelt social media post.

Fans Shed Tears Over Heartfelt Post

“I remember in the morning mom hearing your alarm clock ring,” he writes. “I’d lie in bed and listen to you getting ready for work, the sound of your makeup case on the sink. And the ladies at the office all lipstick, perfume and rustling skirts, how proud and happy you always looked walking home from work.”

Fittingly, Springsteen goes on to share lyrics from one of his own songs, The Wish. This song is all about his beloved mom, Adele.

“It ain’t no phone call on Sunday, flowers or a Mother’s Day card,” the lyrics read. “It ain’t no house on the hill with a garden and a nice little yard. I’ve got my hot rod down on Bond Street I’m older but you’ll know me in a glance. We’ll find us a Little rock ‘n roll bar and we’ll go out and dance.”

Our condolences are with Springsteen and his loved ones during this difficult time.
