Michael Catlett married the love of his life, Rogina, just a week before he passed away from cancer. The couple wed in his hospital room at Sutter Solano Medical Center in Vallejo, California. Though the couple knew Michael’s time on this earth was waning, they wanted to spend those remaining days as husband and wife.

“Through sickness and health, love remains,” Rogina told People. “When you love someone, you stay to the end. You get an opportunity to express love. Just because the one you love is sick doesn’t mean you quit. It becomes not about you but about us.”
Michael and Rogina Catlett had a beautiful Wedding
They told People they had a dream wedding with the help of the non-profit organization Wish Upon a Wedding.
“During the weeks that followed, as they began completing their paperwork, Michael was in and out of the hospital. At the time of our interview, the couple shared that Michael’s doctor estimated he had approximately one to three years. However, when we received his doctor’s verification, his life expectancy was listed as four weeks,” Wish Upon a Wedding explained to People. “We knew that we had to move very quickly on their wish.”
Wish Upon a Wedding took care of everything. They secured a planner, photographer, florist, and officiant in just two days. Michael and Rogina Catlett’s loved ones gathered for the bedside wedding ceremony.
“It meant that I was his everything, his last love, it validated me and what we were to each other,” Rogina said. “I felt so special and just wanted to protect him.”
She added that, even though they had been married for just a few days, it meant the world to her and Michael. Each night, she watches their wedding video, basking in the glory of being Mrs. Michael Catlett.
“I watch Michael pull me close to him, and I know how happy he was,” she said. “In this moment, I watch us becoming one, finally.”
