Contestants Lennon VanderDoes and Tanner Massey teamed up on the stage of “The Voice” to deliver a spectacular cover of Billy Joel’s “She’s Always a Woman.” Their alternately dueling and harmonizing vocals earned wild applause from the audience. When they finished their duet, the celebrity coaches couldn’t say enough good things about the performance! John Legend added that he was especially touched because of his personal connection to the song, which inspired one of his own hits.
Legend explained that his manager had urged him to write a song for Chrissy Teigan, who was his fiancé at the time, in the tone of “She’s Always a Woman.” The result was his well-known romantic single, “All of Me.”
“This song is so beautiful. It’s so well-written and inspired me to write the song that changed my life,” the musician said.
