Brave Deputy Saves Terrified Dog Hiding During House Fire

Deputy Ligon

When a house fire breaks out, the occupants aren’t always the first to notice. Sometimes, they aren’t even home, and an observant neighbor calls for help. The brave men and women who serve as our first responders are there to help save lives when duty calls. That doesn’t just mean human lives; they also put their necks on the line to save pets if they can. Recently, Deputy Ligon, a school resource officer in Colorado, arrived at the scene of a fire and immediately took action. Thankfully, no one was inside, but a terrified furry friend awaited him outside.

Deputy Ligon Took Immediately Care of the Dog

His body cam picked up footage as Deputy Ligon busted the door down with a kick, then ran through the home in the 19700 block of E. Radcliff Place in Centennial searching for anyone in need of rescue. He made his way into the backyard and found a dog, trembling and hiding beneath a trampoline. Deputy Ligon safely removed the animal as the fire spread. According to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, no one was hurt.

Seeing Deputy Ligon take charge of the situation impressed many people.

“1. That poor puppy was terrified but those bystanders were so gentle with him. He deserves all the cuddles. Thought and prayers to both humans and puppy,” someoen wrote. “2. I need Deputy Ligon to teach some exercises classes cause that door kick was bada**! I feel like Miss Shlowski from Kindergarten Cop watching that.”

“That officer took the door out like it was made our of Legos! Also only one who had common sense to just pick uo the trampoline. Bro was literally just staring at the dog under the trampoline,” someone else wrote. “I can already here the officers thought ‘is this person serious?!’ *while lifting trampoline with his pinky.’”
