It’s never easy losing a loved one, but it can be particularly hard when a grandparent passes away. They offer us a unique kind of love, and when they’re gone, it’s very difficult to fill the void. Brad Pitt’s mom, Jane Etta Pitt, passed away recently. His niece, Sydney Pitt, shared a loving devotion to her “Grammy” on Instagram along with several photos.

“My sweet Grammy, Jane Etta, we were not ready for you to go yet but knowing you are finally free to sing, dance, and paint again makes it a tad easier,” Sydney wrote. “If you knew Grammy, you knew she had the biggest heart. She cared deeply for everyone and everything, no questions asked.”
Jane Etta Pitt Had A Zest For Life And A Love Of Her Faith
Jane Etta Pitt taught Sidney to appreciate the arts and helped her deepen her relationship with Jesus. As a grandmother to 14, she did her best to ensure that each of her grandchildren knew just how much she loved them.
“Every year before school, she gave each of us grandkids a ‘special day’ which was a whole day to do whatever we wanted (and Papa had to go along with it… though I know he secretly loved it too),” Sydney shared. “Mine usually started with banana splits for breakfast, hours of playing Trouble, a craft project obvi, riding every ride together at Silver Dollar City like the badass she was, dinner at Olive Garden with Papa, mini golf where she’d make a V with her feet to help me aim… (and somehow still beat me) and ending the night watching Paulie until we feel asleep.”
Although she is gone, Jane Etta Pitt will never be forgotten. As Sydney shared, “But I know she’s still here in every brushstroke, every kind gesture, every hummingbird. She was love in its purest form.”
“Couldn’t of said it better myself a true legend who will live on forever,” a follower wrote. “Love you so much.”
“Such a special, Godly woman. Your family is in my prayers,” another person shared.
Jane Etta Pitt was 84.
