Logan Riman has never been able to visually navigate the world around him. But the aural beauty he creates using his ears and hands is something most of us could only dream of achieving.
Born blind, the 14-year-old has always found comfort in his greatest passion: music. It never failed to calm Logan as a baby, and at just 2 years old, he began taking piano lessons. It soon became apparent he was a prodigy, and the world eventually took notice – including another legendary musician.

Obviously, life hasn’t been easy for the teen. While many praise the young pianist and marvel for his talent, others target him for his differences.
“He gets bullied a lot, he gets judged a lot, but people shouldn’t do that,” his mom, Leah said. “He’s an incredible child, very smart, you get to know him, give him a chance, you’ll love him. Don’t judge people, give them their chance.”
Still, nothing has stopped the self-proclaimed “Logan the Piano Man” from following his dreams. In April, he played at Radio City Music Hall during the Garden of Dreams Foundation talent show and blew everyone away.

In fact, foundation leaders were so impressed they arranged a very special meeting for Logan at Madison Square Garden… with Billy Joel, the original “Piano Man” himself! Joel had been doing a soundcheck for his concert that night and had time for a quick chat.

But then, Joel stunned the teen and his mom with one question: would Logan like to join him for a duet on stage? Of course, the answer was yes – and the two were recorded playing a gorgeous rendition of “Piano Man,” filling the empty arena with the magical sounds of their shared passion.

Leah couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity given to her son. “I am so thankful to Garden of Dreams for literally fulfilling his dream, my dream for him,” she said. Now she hopes the video will show others that limitations don’t have to hold us back from our goals.

As for Logan, he says the experience “was so cool. That was amazing.” We’re sure Joel feels the same as well. Keep playing, Logan. You are such an inspiration, not to mention an incredible pianist!
