Adorable Video Captures Rescued Baby Chipmunk Taking 1st Bites Of Solid Food.

Baby Chipmunk

Pamellia Johnson lives in Ontario, Canada where she runs her very own little wildlife rescue. She nurses teeny tiny newborn animals, like rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, and mice, to health before releasing them back into the wild.

Recently, she became the proud foster mom to three little chipmunks who she named Katherine, Stefan, and Elena. When she first took them in, all three could easily fit into the palm of her hand and had to be fed with a syringe, kept warm, and talked to constantly in order to survive.

As newborns, Pamellia said the chipmunks tried to reunite with their mom, but weren’t able to do so and there were a lot of times she worried they wouldn’t make it. She didn’t give up though, because she knew if she kept nurturing them they could make a full recovery and grow!

And, slowly but surely, they did just that. Eventually, she moved all three siblings into a cage where they had more freedom to run around, climb, and survive on their own a little bit.

Once they got a little bigger, Pamellia gave the chipmunks their first taste of solids instead of just formula from a syringe. Her goal was always to get them back into the wild, and she knew they wouldn’t be able to do that if they couldn’t eat what nature had to offer.

So, she gave Elana her first taste, and that little baby girl took her food and instinctively did what chipmunks do: she stuffed her little cheeks full!

All three chipmunks did great with their solid foods and as they grew stronger and more independent, Pamellia knew it was time to let them go in nature. Though they were hesitant at first, Elana, Stefan, and Katherine all went on their way to live their cute little chipmunk lives outdoors where they belong.
