Drinking alcohol is a part of many people’s lives who live a perfectly healthy existence, having a drink or two. Others find that alcohol has a much stronger hold on them than they would like, which can lead to trouble. Everybody Loves Raymond star Patricia Heaton drank alcohol for years and began to realize that it wasn’t serving her well. She shared during a recent podcast interview with Woman’s World how God spoke to her and helped her give up drinking for good.

“I sent up this thought prayer, and I’m like, ‘You know, God, I think I want to quit drinking,’” Patricia Heaton recalled. “‘I will never be able to quit drinking. I love Maker’s Mark Old Fashioned too much. But I think you want me to quit drinking, and I’d be willing to do it, but you have to make it happen, because I can’t.’”
The Following Day God Sent Patricia Heaton a Message About Her Drinking
Patricia Heaton shared that she was drinking wine and playing a board game when she could not pronounce “tradition.”
“I tried three times. My youngest son said, ‘That’s great, Mom. You can’t even speak.’”
She said the moment changed her forever. “I was so mortified, completely mortified,” Patricia recalled.
Later that day, Patricia Heaton said she was talking to God about her drinking again and told Him she heard the message loud and clear.
“I’m like, ‘Well, thanks for answering that prayer in record time, God,’” she said as she laughed. “‘You know how to make it happen.’”
She’s now eight years sober and living a fulfilled life just the way she wanted to, without a drink in hand, but with a smile on her face and a prayer in her heart.
