Elderly Men Limp Onstage For Dance Number — Audience Cracks Up When Tempo Changes.

When Bert Carroll, Frank Tripoli, and Kurt Bourhenne were young bucks, they loved to dance, but the moves were far more modest back then.

So, when the three residents at Leisure World Senior Community in Seal Beach, California, approached Bert’s daughter about choreographing a routine for a Texas Hold ‘Em party, she was taken aback by their requests to spice things up! Calling themselves The Awesome Threesome, no one knew what to expect from their performance…

The seniors began their act as crotchety old men, entering the stage to the theme song from “2001: A Space Odyssey,”shuffling as if they were all crippled from severe backaches.

But you know something’s coming, especially when they turn their backs on the audience and don sequined white gloves (thanks to their wives, who did all the sewing) and fedoras.

“It wasn’t until we flashed the glove that people caught it,”Bert said. “People didn’t know what we were going to do.â€

The opening notes to Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean†are instantly recognizable, and for the next couple minutes, the feisty seniors pull off some of the King of Pop’s signature moves, including crotch-grabbing and moonwalking…

Well, moonwalks that are modified for men in their twilight years, anyway.

Bert’s daughter decided to leave out any spin moves for safety reasons: “I think we could spin, but we’d end up with vertigo,” Bert said. “You wouldn’t see us for a week!”

We don’t know if other performers got up after them, but let’s hope not because this would have been a tough act to follow.
