A Pakistani singer named Atif Aslam is making headlines around the globe for stopping a concert in Karachi, Pakistan mid-song. Now, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a performer halt a concert. Remember when Adele stopped her performance so that an audience-member could propose to his girlfriend? But– unlike in Adele’s case– Atif wasn’t stopping his concert for something fun. On the contrary, the singer stopped everything to intervene when he saw a young woman being harassed.

In the video below, Atif can be seen putting down his microphone and looking at something in the audience. He turns and motions for his band to stop playing, and then he does something wild: he confronts the offending fans in the front row, saying “Have you seen a girl? She could be your mother or a sister?”
He shakes his head and motions for the security personnel on the stage to step forward. “Rescue her,” he says in English, pointing to the girl. “Rescue her.”
Security pulls the young woman from the audience onto the stage. Atif walks with her backstage, to safety, while the audience cheers. They cheer even louder when he returns and continues the show. What a class act!
