Many have felt the struggle of missing a day of work to care for a sick child. But most could never imagine the toll it would take physically, emotionally and financially, to move into the hospital with their child. There are kids and families all over the world that deal with this reality every day.
After 200 days on the transplant waiting list, young Ari Schultz just got news that will change his life forever. The little one has a rare heart defect that would have killed him by his early teenage years. He and his parents have endured more than many will in a lifetime, but the journey has made them stronger than ever.
In the video below, we get to see the precious moment this young boy finds out that he’ll be receiving a brand new heart. Though a little too young to fully understand his situation, Ari doesn’t fail to melt every heart with his genuine show of excitement. The surgery would be dangerous, and not without complications, but it was Ari’s only hope to enter adulthood.
Ari’s new heart began beating in his chest at 11:32pm on Friday, March 3rd. Though he has a long recovery and road ahead of him, all evidence points to Ari having a long, happy and healthy life.
