The nurses at Bryn Mawr Hospital in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, take their jobs seriously. They aren’t just providing a service; they are giving patients loving and compassionate care that creates a long-term positive effect. One patient felt so well cared for that they decided to give back to the men and women of Bryn Mawr Hospital anonymously with a $1 million donation to help them pay off student loan debt.

The $1 Million Donation Was Inspired by Others
According to WPVI, similar anonymous donations recently appeared at Main Line Health Centers, Lankenau Medical Center, Paoli Hospital, and Riddle Hospital, totaling $1 million and $250,000, respectively.
The donation came as a total surprise to nurses.
“I had no idea. I was just told to show up; there wasn’t a lot of information provided. Glad that I did come. This was amazing,” Aliyah Hall, a Main Line Health nurse for four years, told WPVI.
Matt Roberts felt particularly moved as both a nurse and husband of a patient.
“Main Line Health and Bryn Mawr Hospital saved my wife’s life and saved my baby’s life,” he said. “So for me, it’s the fact that I can spend more time with my daughter and not take so much overtime – to actually get to see her smile more. That’s important to me.”
According to the hospital, 173 nurses applied for a $3,600 grant. That’s the maximum they could receive without a tax penalty, WPVI explained.
Executive Director of Bryn Mawr Hospital Foundation, Cinda Johnson, said the $1 million donor found great pleasure in helping others.
“The Bryn Mawr Hospital donor has said many times they are getting more joy out of this than anybody else,” she said.
