Earlier this month, a homeowner in Phoenix, Arizona, heard plaintive calls for help coming from somewhere in her attic and called the Arizona Humane Society.

When the society’s emergency animal medical technician, Andy Gallo, arrived at the scene he discovered that the kitten had somehow fallen into the wall after its mother placed it in the attic.

“It was one of my more difficult rescues and I was surprised to find that I would have to not only cut through dry wall, but also cut through concrete with my saw in order to save the kitten,” Gallo said. “I knew I had to do whatever it took to save the kitten’s life.â€

Using a saw, he finally gained access to where the little guy was wedged, his soft gray fur now coated with a thick layer of concrete dust. Gallo triumphantly held up the kitten — later named Gavin — who of course expressed his relief and gratitude by loudly purring.

The frisky feline is so young that he still needs to be bottle fed every few hours, but will be available for adoption soon.
