The American Idol judges were stunned with Jack Blocker’s audition, but they weren’t quite sure it was powerful enough to move on to the next round of the competition.
But when Lionel Richie asked the crew… it was Jack Blocker’s lucky day! This was the first-ever recount, and we’re so glad they did it!
There’s no doubt that Jack Blocker is impressive. His voice is gritty and intense — but Katy Perry had a bit of feedback for him. She suggested he take a more relaxed approach.
Lionel Richie encouraged him but voted “No,” alongside Katy Perry.
After Jack Blocker left the American Idol audition room, though… everyone felt the loss.
“Let’s do a crew vote,” suggested judge Luke Bryan.
Lionel Richie counted the votes and, no surprise, they thought Jack Blocker earned a spot on American Idol!
The judges called Jack back to the room and Lionel delivered the news of a “Yes.” Jack couldn’t believe it.
Luke Bryan thanked the crew, praising Jack’s skill with excitement about the recount.
What an incredible celebration of great, raw talent! We’re looking forward to seeing what Jack does on this season of American Idol.
