High School Seniors Are Blown Away By Mom’s Epic Backyard Graduation Party.

As so many parents focus on what to do with their kids this Fall, others are still doing their best to celebrate theirs who missed out on a proper graduation ceremony this Spring. Cara Anaya couldn’t stand the thought of her daughter missing such a special milestone, so she went above and beyond for a DIY celebration that even puts Pinterest to shame.

Earlier in the year, Cara’s daughter, Alexis had told her mom how sad she was that her senior year just ended without any warning. Cara told Good Morning America, Alexis and her friends “were devastated” because they didn’t get to “cheer each other on” or have closure. So, she decided to take things into her own hands with a surprise party that included a robot, sno-cone truck, and an epic front-yard ceremony.

Cara worked behind the scenes to blow their school’s disappointing COVID-19 graduation out of the water. She told Alexis and some of her friends to come over to the house in their caps and gowns and to bring their families for an outside ceremony.

But, when the kids arrived, they found a huge stage display, a party in the streets, decorations everywhere, and a live DJ.

Alexis told GMA that the entire celebration totally blew her mind, and that she was expecting everyone to just walk across the grass of her front yard as a little staging area. She also noted that it’s safe to say her mom gets the “Mom of the Year” award for 2020.

Cara and the other parents were just happy to see their kids get the send-off they deserved. She told GMA that the kids’ joy “made everything ok for us parents.”

Watch some of the celebration highlights in the video below, and remember to share the story with anyone who could use a little joy in their day.
