No matter how long it’s been, you can always find your way back home.
For Willie, it’s been 63 years. That’s because, in 1959, he took a six-week journey by boat from Ireland to Australia. After that, he and his family started a new life together.
Although they’ve no doubt enjoyed their new home, there was always one thing missing: family that remained in Ireland. That’s why it was so special that Willie and his daughter, Sue, were able to head back to visit his brother, Tony, who at this point has a son of his own named John who they’d never met!
Best of all, they were able to time the visit with Willie’s 90th birthday – what a milestone! The Dublin Airport shared the moment they reunited on Twitter where it’s garnering views and pulling at the heartstrings of people all around the world.
“Welcome back Willie, it was an absolute pleasure to be a part of this special moment,” Dublin Airport wrote.
