Just as it was becoming clear that Dad would get custody, both the little boy and Mom went missing. Needless to say, this left Abdul absolutely heartbroken.

For years, the boy’s paternal family did everything they could to search for him. Authorities searched across 11 states. But for seven years, Aziz was nowhere to be found… until February 23, 2025. Deputies in Douglas County, Colorado were called to handle a burglary. A man and woman were caught entering an empty property that was up for sale.

@dailymail A young boy who was abducted seven years ago and was the subject of a Netflix documentary has been found safe. Abdul Aziz Khan, 14, was kidnapped in 2017 in Atlanta, Georgia, with authorities in Colorado now saying they had found him safe late last month. Officers with Douglas County Sheriff's Office were called to a home to investigate a reported burglary on February 23, they found two children in a car in the driveway. Two individuals had allegedly entered the home, with the homeowner dialing 911 after spotting them on surveillance cameras. The sheriff's office said the pair were later identified as Rabia Khalid, 40, and Elliot Blake Bourgeois, 42. When officers arrived, they found two children in a parked car. The adults inside claimed to be associated with the realtor selling the home. Luckily, these deputies could tell that something was off. So, they had the kids sent to a nearby neighbor for food and television while they investigated.

After Seven Years, This Abducted Boy Has Finally Been Found

After five hours, Rabia was identified as someone with an active warrant for kidnapping. They also identified Aziz as the child who had been missing for seven years. Now, Mom and her new husband, Elliot Blake Bourgeois, are under arrest with a bond set at $1 million each.

Although he appeared healthy, many questions about what Aziz’s life has been like these past seven years remain unanswered. Police also have not revealed the identity of the second child. That said, progress is being made toward reuniting Aziz with his dad. This process will take time, of course, but there is hope that healing can begin for everyone involved.

“We’re overwhelmed with joy that Aziz has finally been found,” a statement from the family reads. “We want to thank everyone for their support over the last seven years. We specifically want to recognize the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office for their exceptional work in solving this case. Now, as we navigate the next steps, we ask for privacy so that we can move forward as a family and heal together.”
