The men have different backgrounds. Decock has decades of experience as classical pianist and a doctorate in music, while Roberts is a 25-year songwriting veteran with Broadway experience. The unexpected mix combined beautifully on the track.
“It’s not your typical Christmas song,” Decock said. “There is a rather long runway into the first mention of Christmas, after acknowledging the need to really dig down deep, do a personal inventory, and start appreciating everything we have in our lives.”
Decock started writing the track, and the “tone and theme… really inspired” Roberts.
“I love the way this song made me feel through the holiday season,” Roberts said, a sentiment with which Decock agreed.
“There’s something about the Christmas season that makes everyone a little happier, more generous, more forgiving,” Decock said. “I wanted to use the song to reinforce just how different the world would be if we all just stretched that ‘magic’ throughout the 12 months of the year.”

Murray Decock and Chris Roberts Q&A
WHY DID YOU ENTER INSPIREMORE’S PSALMS TO SONGS PROMOTION: HEAVEN & NATURE SING?
MD: I felt like the vibe of the lyrics really matched the contest’s guidelines.
THE PRIZE INCLUDES A $500 DONATION TO YOUR CHARITY OF CHOICE. WHAT CHARITY DID YOU PICK AND WHY?
CR: I’d love to give the donation to the Center for Contemplative Justice in Nashville, Tennessee. They are wonderful at advocating for those who need it most.
WHAT SONGWRITERS DO YOU COUNT AS YOUR BIGGEST INSPIRATIONS? WHY?
MD: Lori McKenna can tell such a deep and meaningful story without you ever realizing you were listening to such a deep and meaningful story. I always feel like I am living inside one of her songs when I am listening to her.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR PLANS IN 2026.
MD: I will be pitching my new songs to music supervisors in TV and film. I would love to get a few songs licensed in 2026 in order to get a foot in that aspect of the music industry. I’m also helping a new indie record label, 3686 Records, raise some serious investment cash so they can take their label to the next level.
CR: Two new musicals are being performed that I have written music and lyrics for: The Way, Way West and 3 Way Stop. I’ve also composed a requiem mass that I’m hoping to perform in several places.
WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST CAREER DREAM?
MD: I’m already living my dream! I’m writing, recording and publishing my music. I get to work with some of the very best writers, producers, instrumentalists and vocalists in Nashville, London, Montreal, and NYC.
CR: To write all the music for a TV show I’ve been working on. And for people to watch it!
