A fan in the stands began to experience a medical emergency, prompting the game to come to a halt. A medical team rushed to the stands with a defibrillator and a monitor so they could resuscitate the man. When the players were alerted to what was happening, one of them didn’t hesitate to join in on the rescue mission.
Goal keeper JeremÃas Conan Ledesma hurried to find a second defibrillator just in case it was needed. After running as fast as he could across the field, he strategically threw the life-saving device into the stands so it could get to the medical team as soon as possible. Within a few minutes, their efforts were a success, and the fan was sent to the hospital for further care!
“The organization would like to thank the exemplary behavior of the fans in the south end of the stadium for this situation, as well as the security staff and Cruz Roja for their quick action to ensure that this incident had a happy ending,” Cádiz CF, the Spanish professional soccer club, said in a statement.
