“POV: They Turned Your Childhood Into A Museum Exhibit”

Image shows a man describing how videos were rented at Blockbuster while touring a 90s museum exhibit with his son.

The Colorado History Museum in Denver has managed to capture the nostalgia of an era in their ’90s museum exhibit. For people who grew up during that era, it is like walking through a life-size time capsule. For the husband of Melissa Dawson, the Blockbuster exhibit brought back memories of an early job. Listening to Andrew explain the process for renting a video to his son, Asher, hits home.

The best part was getting to show our kid what it was like “in our day”. Also my husband worked at a Blockbuster back then and the memories hit him like a truck. Edit: 📍This is at the History Colorado Center in Denver

Andrew and Asher sat down to play old video games and explore the toys that were popular back then. One person pointed out that one of the rooms was decorated with the exact same sofa her grandma had. Someone noticed a Princess Diana Beanie Baby in one of the displays.

There was even an early depiction of South Park, where Andrew explained how they used to make the animated series before computer graphics. Melissa’s husband is a hands-on dad, and he was in his element explaining the ’90s museum exhibits to Asher.

The original video went viral for all the right reasons. It shows a wholesome family moment with no controversy, no “gotcha” features, and no hype. The ’90s museum exhibit offers a unique experience, allowing everyone to enjoy revisiting a different era. If you grew up during the ’90s, this museum exhibit probably brought you memories and smiles.

If you enjoy wholesome, family fun, the Dawsons offer that and more. Melissa may not be a professional videographer, but she does a great job capturing all the special moments.

Melissa captures the family’s adventures on TikTok and Instagram, so if you would like to follow them, you can do so there. Although several things are on both, not everything is, so the pages are slightly unique.
