“My Little Brother Wanted To Show That He Can Play The Drums Too”

Mya is a talented musician. She records herself playing and sometimes asks her dad to accompany her on drums. The drum set belongs to her little brother, and he wanted to show off his skills too. Mya selected Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. While she played piano, her little brother did a fair job on the drums.

Mya promises more videos with her dad, but I think she’s overlooking a wonderful resource in her brother. He might be raw, but his musical talent is obviously inherited. With practice, they could be the next sister-brother duo to chart. He does seem more than willing to help her.

Most of Mya’s current videos are instrumental only. She recorded her very first singing video in late July. Her voice is incredible. She is timid, but the base tonal quality is beautiful, although very quiet.

Mya tackled Billy Joel’s Piano Man playing both harmonica and piano. Her dad needs to buy her a harmonica stand that hangs on her neck. The awkwardness of balancing the harmonica on her knee is both ingenious and humorous to watch, but not an effective way to play.

We have no clue what kind of training Mya has. Much of her instrumental work appears to be self-taught. She has attended a music camp, but mentions in one video that she can’t read music. To be able to play that way with no formal training is astonishing. Her love of music is apparent in every video she posts.
