Our pets have preferences. Whether it be food, toys, or places to sleep, they tend to pick favorites. That said, Dave the orange cat is extra unique in this regard. In addition to the typical stuff, it seems that this adorable cat has quite an infatuation with certain inanimate objects. No, seriously. He has the face of someone in love.

Dave’s latest infatuation? The ceiling fan. According to his human parents, it’s very possible that this is the very first time he even noticed that the fan existed. In any case, it’s no surprise that they were quick to capture proof of this hilarious obsession. Check it out in the video below!

“He’s just a cat. Standing in front of a fan. Asking it to love him,” a clever commentor writes, referencing the film Notting Hill. Another person adds, “Dave’s love for inanimate objects brings me joy.”

Dave the Orange Cat’s Infatuation with Inanimate Objects is the Funniest Thing Ever

This is far from the first inanimate object that Dave has found fascinating. Before the fan, he had a brief interest in vents.

Sure, staring at a vent for 20 minutes was fun for Dave. But that was nothing compared to his obsession before that. This one lasted quite some time, and it garnered Dave quite a lot of fans. Find out what the inanimate object was in the video below…

@indooroutdoorkat Does anyone have any theories about this because he keeps falling deeper in love and I am entirely flummoxed #catdad #weirdpets #fyp ♬ Obituary – Alexandre Desplat

Confused by Dave’s love of doorframes, his humans posed a question to folks on social media: Why? Their answers did not disappoint. Some of the best include:

  • “Dave was actually a building quality inspector in a previous life.”
  • “He was an orange manager of Home Depot.”
  • “There was an accident at the cat factory and instead of giving Dave a brain there’s just a very tiny doorframe in there.”
  • “Dave is pure.”

Whatever the reason, there’s no doubt that Dave’s silly infatuations somehow make him even more adorable than he already was!
