7-Yr-Old Drew Barrymore Gives Adorable Interview On Johnny Carson’s “Tonight Show.”

What were you doing when you were seven?

Chances are, you were playing with your Barbie dolls or riding your bike around the cul de sac, not sitting across from the most iconic late night talk show host of all time, talking about how much you love going to the dentist.

Drew Barrymore, however, was doing just that when she was seven… and she was crushing it.

Having been born into a long line of celebrated actors– including her grandfather, the legendary John Barrymore– Drew was one to watch from an early age.

In 1982, Drew had just finished shooting E.T. with her buddy, director Steven Spielberg. Audiences had already come to love the angelic child since her star-making turn as “Gertie” in the beloved sci-fi film.

On this, her first visit to “The Tonight Show” with Johnny Carson, Drew pulled out all the stops and showed the world just how big her personality was. Audiences were immediately smitten from the moment she tripped onto the stage.

Darn those slippery shoes! Once she was safely seated on the sofa next to Johnny, she really turned on the charm. “I’ve been waiting all my life to meet you, and I’m finally on your show,” she says adorably.

Johnny had lots of chances to give the camera his trademark deadpan stare, and he seemed to genuinely enjoy chatting with the young actress.

Drew kept up with Johnny’s quick wit throughout the conversation, and at every turn, Drew’s easy-going nature was on full display. She wasn’t a bit nervous to be seated next to such a famous celebrity, and she’s already a total pro when it comes to making conversation with people three times her age.

In fact, she felt so comfortable with Johnny that she even decided to pull out her false teeth, live on the air.

Like any seven-year-old, Drew was losing her baby teeth, so her handlers had made her wear a special set of kid-sized dentures when she was on TV. But kids don’t stand for pretenses, even famous kids!

Drew plucked out those flippers and calmly placed them down… right on Johnny’s desk.

She just opens the door for comedy without even trying! And for the record, she looks even cuter without the fake chompers.

She and Johnny then have a pretty in-depth conversation about the crush she has on her dentist before segueing into the reason she was there, her movie. That’s when she takes a moment to say hi to “Steven,” world0-famous director and Drew’s godfather.

Drew takes a few minutes to inform viewers about the audition process she went through, and how she turned down another one of Spielberg’s films, “Poltergeist,” because it was “too scary.”

We’ve honestly never seen a more poised and hilarious child. It’s no wonder that Drew grew up to be the superstar she is today!
