Boy With Down Syndrome Pins Wrestler Twice His Size In Adorable Match.

If there’s one thing we know about people with Down syndrome, it’s that they can do just about anything they set their minds to.

For eight year-old Fatih Emirhan from Turkey, having Down syndrome won’t stop him from pursuing his favorite sport, wrestling. Thanks to a coach named Ali Burak Toy, he’s been trained to take on any opponent that comes his way; even if that opponent happens to be an adult twice his size.

Fatih’s mom, Essen Turkmen, got her son involved in wrestling when he was just three years-old. She says her only desire was to give her son every opportunity to lead a normal life. “I have always admired the athletes’ strong spirit. I decided that in order to give Fatih a chance, he had to do sports, feel welcome from his peers and be loved by the coaches,” Essen said.

Wrestling did not come easily for Fatih at first, but he persevered in spite of his problems maintaining his concentration, plus the added challenge of a newly-diagnosed heart condition. Everything changed, however, when Fatih met his coach, Ali Burak Toy.

Ali is a one of the youngest and most promising freestyle wrestlers in Turkey, and he instantly formed a close bond with Fatih. Essen claims that overnight her son transformed into a dedicated athlete who was determined to make his coach proud. As for Ali, meeting and training with Fatih has, quite simply, changed his life.

“Fatih gives meaning to my days,” Ali said. “I love him as a child. He was born to be a fighter. To keep his attention, I use a lot of games and specific exercises, but he is so obedient and for two years he has never told me he’s tired.”

In honor of World Wrestling Day, Ali uploaded a video of Fatih taking him on at a competition, and the video was so incredible it has since gone viral with millions of views.

In the video, we see little Fatih taking to the ring, going up against his beloved coach — a grown man and professional wrestler.

While you might think that Fatih is no match for Ali, you’d be wrong! This kid has got some serious moves.

Every time Fatih flips Ali over, the crowd erupts into applause and cheers. The little boy seems unconcerned by his adoring public, though — he’s focusing only on his opponent.

Finally, Fatih bests Ali by pinning him to the ground. Fatih wins… and no one seems happier about it than Ali.

Ali sweeps the child into his arms and gives him a big hug, then proceeds to the judging area so that Fatih can collect his medal.

Inspired by his relationship with Fatih, Ali is now starting a training program specifically for kids with Down syndrome.
