4-Yr-Old Calls Police To Show Off His Toys — And They Actually Stop By!

New Zealand police officer and little boy wearing his hat

It’s not unusual for police dispatchers to hear all sorts of strange things when people call them for help, but an emergency services operator couldn’t help but chuckle over a request she received recently. A 4-year-old boy in New Zealand slipped away from his caretaker and dialed 111, their version of 911.

“Police lady?” he says politely. “I’ve got some toys for you! … Come over and see them!”

After confirming with the adult at home that there was no real emergency, the friendly 111 operator put a call out to any officers in the area who might be able to swing by for a visit. Constable Kurt from Southern District Police volunteered. Once there, he confirmed, “He did have cool toys!”

Constable Kurt then showed off his car’s lights and siren, posed for a cute picture, and had a little chat with the tot about only using 111 for emergencies.

New Zealand Police shared audio from the call on their Facebook page, and it’s just plain adorable! The little boy’s voice is too precious, and we’re so glad these civil servants took time out of their busy days to show some love to a child.
