Walking into a restaurant during the lunch rush can be overwhelming, with customers clambering to get their names on the wait list, servers and bussers buzzing past, and hostesses yelling out names over the din. After finally getting seated, most of just bury our noses in the menu and try to tune everything else out while we decide between a sandwich, salad, or combo.

But not everyone.
In a simple yet beautiful example of humanity at its best, Michigan resident Heather Leigh described an incident she observed while seated with her group at an eatery in Mt. Clemens, Michigan.

“There were quite a few groups of people at the door waiting to be seated and then there was this lady who was alone,”she wrote. “Out of nowhere, this young man gets up and walks up to the lady and says, ‘I have three empty seats at my table, would you like to sit with me so you don’t have to wait?’â€

“Cue the four of us at our table with our hearts MELTING as he ushers her over to his table and pulls out the chair next to him, not across from him, to sit down. Periodically while we ate, we looked over to see them alternately sitting quietly and chatting with ease.â€
Needless to say, everyone who read her story was totally blown away by this random act of kindness:
“With all the negative, hateful ridiculousness happening in our country, it was nice to see and be reminded that there are still good people out there among us,”Heather’s post concludes.
This is what it’s all about, everyone — just finding a simple opportunity to brighten someone’s day. It could be letting the person behind you who just has one or two items go first at the cashier’s or asking someone who’d otherwise have to wait to join you for lunch.
