When the world first met little Zion Harvey in July of 2015, he was a precious 8-year-old boy with no hands but a big heart. We wrote about him then, sharing the story of his incredible operation after he became the world’s first pediatric double hand transplant recipient. Now, a year later, Zion is adapting to life with his new limbs.

“When I got my hands,” said 9-year-old Zion recently, “It’s like, here’s the piece of my life that was missing. Now it’s here. My life is complete.” Little Zion can now color, play baseball, hold a book… “I can do more than I imagined!” he says.
But even though Zion’s life has changed, his sweet spirit and his love for his family are still the same. Back in 2015, he told cameras that the number one thing he couldn’t wait to do with his hands was pick up his baby sister. Now, he gushes to the camera about him mom. “Without my mom, I would not be here right now.” he says. Such precious and mature words from a boy so young!
Grandma gets a mention, too. “My grandmother says that if you push yourself, you can do anything. Anything that you dream to do.”
Zion is certainly proving his grandmother right. Check out it out below!
