At one point, giant pandas were considered Endangered. There were fewer than 1,000 of them both in the wild and captivity. But thanks to the efforts of places like the U.S. and China, we’re seeing great improvements. In fact, there are now more than 1,800 pandas, making them Vulnerable rather than Endangered.

Having China loan these pandas to the U.S. aids in the effort to save these beautiful animals. So, in the end, everyone wins from this exciting exhibit! For more information, and to get tickets, you can visit the zoo’s website.

“For 30 years, we’ve worked alongside our Chinese conservation partners to save, protect and care for giant pandas and their ecosystems,” Erika says. “And now we have the opportunity to continue caring for and conserving these incredible bears as we expand on our transformative work to secure a future for their species.”
