A Starbucks barista who is wearing a mask shyly looks down and smiles at the drink she made for someone who just went through a breakup.

There are certain moments in life where a nice treat is the perfect mood boost. That’s certainly how Lisa Bert felt right after she and her boyfriend officially broke up. To help mend the heartbreak she’s been feeling, Lisa stops for a coffee and snack. Her intention is to get a sweet drink, but in the end, she gets so much more than that thanks to a very thoughtful Starbucks barista.

Lisa retells the story on her Facebook page. Typically, her account is all about coffee, both the kind she buys from stores and the kind she makes at home. But this post is about so much more than drinks. From the way Lisa describes it, she must seem visibly upset when ordering — because the barista surprises her with a free drink and a kind message.

“Feel better!” the message reads. “You are loved.”

Every single person you cross paths with is going through something. That’s why random acts of kindness like this one can leave such a lasting impact. Truly, there’s no doubt that this moment will stuck with Lisa for years to come.
