For women undergoing cancer treatment, one of the most difficult hurdles is losing their hair. They know it grows back. They know it is usually a temporary response to chemo and radiation. But waking up daily and seeing clumps of hair on your pillow can be traumatic.
To combat this response, many women shave their heads to avoid dealing with the daily loss. One woman was doing just that in her beauty salon. She quietly sobbed in the chair as the cosmetologist methodically removed the remainder of her shoulder-length hair.
As the hair came off, the woman sat quietly with her eyes closed. The hairdresser was very gentle and focused, making the process as easy on her customer as possible. It is still a difficult transition.
