Wild Clip Shows Living Fish Swimming Within Ice “Bubble”

A man looks at the camera. He's happily shocked, eyes wide and mouth open. He carries something in his hands that can only be partially seen in this image.

For the most part, fishing is considered a relaxing activity. Sure, there are times when you may catch a massive fish — or, perhaps, save the lives of some trapped seal pups. But for many, a large part of the fun comes from enjoying the beauty of nature. But that’s not what made a recent fishing trip memorable for Carly Tofuri’s husband. The highlight of this trip didn’t even come from what he caught that day.

Instead, the big moment of the day seems to have come from his very own bait bucket. You see, it can get rather cold in Maine. So, while the man did his very best to catch something, the bucket of fish intended for bait froze into ice… but not the entire bucket. See what I mean in the unexpected video below!

“Has anyone ever seen this happen before?” Carly asks in the caption of her video.

You may be wondering: “How is this possible?” According to several commenters, because the outside of a body of water freezes first, the fish still had plenty of space to swim around. This left the man with what can only be referred to as a frozen, portable aquarium.

During a Winter Fishing Trip in Maine, the Fish in This Man’s Bait Bucket Suddenly Find Themselves in a Portable Ice Aquarium!

Naturally, this shocked fisherman had to share his portable aquarium with just about everyone that he possibly could. Because, come on, what are the odds of that happening!?

“I love how his energy gives small child finding animal/bug outside and brings it in to proudly show mom,” someone points out in reply to Carly’s video, with another person adding, “Ok how he holding the ice with bare hands so long.”
