During COVID quarantines people tried out all sorts of new hobbies: baking bread, gardening, and binge-watching tv shows, to name a few.

Ryan Stokes, on the other hand, found a unique way to spend the extra time he had to spend at his New Zealand home. Because he loves music and lives with his parents he thought, “Why no teach them how to play instruments?” And so began what is now known as the band Mommas Boy.
He started by teaching his mom, Andrea, the drums. Months later, his dad joined with the bass. Despite having no musical experience before Ryan taught them, they both picked up on their instruments rather quickly. In fact, they’ve grown quite a following on TikTok, and their music can be found on Spotify!
“I thought it would be fun to teach them the first song I ever learnt,” Ryan captioned a video on TikTok.
How sweet! We love that Ryan found such a special, fun way for him and his parents to bond during quarantine. Plus, now that they’ve discovered these new talents, who knows what the future holds?
