There are plenty of pros and cons to staying at a hotel vs an Airbnb. But Jessica Judith’s heartwarming experience with the latter is reminding us of why services like this can be oh-so memorable. During a trip to Finland, she and a friend found themselves staying in the home of a man named Tarmo. The more they got to know this sweet man, the more they adored him.

Eventually, they learned that it was the Airbnb host’s birthday! Unfortunately, however, he didn’t have anyone to celebrate the day with him. At least that’s what he thought… turns out, Jessica and her friend care a lot about birthdays. So, instead of going about their day as planned, the two of them chose to celebrate Tarmo’s birthday with him! They even bought a cake and sang him “Happy Birthday.” Check out that sweet moment in the video below!

This Impromptu Airbnb Birthday Party is the Definition of Wholesome
“His mom would love you two for that,” someone thoughtfully points out in the comments, with another adding, “You guys just gave that man a core memory.”
It’s clear that this moment meant the world to Tarmo. It’s no wonder that, when their song ended, he immediately hugged the two of them extra tight. This is sure to be a birthday that he will never forget!
It’s also safe to say that Jessica and her friend will never forget Tarmo’s birthday, either. It goes to show that you never know what will happen when you try and make a new friend.
“Tarmo was the best host I have ever had on Airbnb, he took us to see the reindeers and every day he waited for us at his house with coffee and cookies ready,” Jessica shares in a caption translated from Spanish, “we love you so much Tarmo! What an honor to be able to celebrate your birthday with you!!”
