When a server brought back the check to one of her tables, a guest asked her a question that caught her completely off guard.
“My question to you is, ‘How much would you like your tip to be?'” asked Isaiah Garza.
Not knowing how to respond, the server took a couple of seconds to think before responding with, “Honestly, whatever you can give.”
Isaiah asked her for an exact quantity, however, so she said that $20 would make her happy. Still, Isaiah didn’t seem completely satisfied with her answer, insisting she think again – and that’s when the magic started happening.
The server confessed that she needed to pay her phone bill, which is $50. She also said she needed to buy an air conditioner since she currently doesn’t have one. Isaiah, a social media star who used to be homeless and now helps people in need, handed $350 to the server: $50 to pay for the phone bill and $300 for the air conditioner.
“I really truly, truly, truly appreciate it,” she said. “This has never happened to me before.”
With tears in her eyes, the server admitted that she wasn’t going to use the $300 to buy the air conditioner that she needs.
“I’m just going to give it to my mom to be honest,” said the server. “She’s worried about paying for the mortgage.”
Talk about selfless acts of kindness! Isaiah was touched by the server’s response and even decided to start a Venmo account to help her even more… what a great human!
