April 11, 2024, is National Pet Day. To celebrate the day, Nationwide Insurance has selected finalists for its annual Wacky Pet Names contest. Now, they’re depending on you to vote to determine the winners. There are three general categories: cats, dogs, and exotics.
The selection process for Nationwide Pet Insurance policies is as follows: The company reviews the policy names for all registered pets and narrows the list to its finalists. The names of all contestants are available online, and voting occurs between April 9 and 12, 2024. Each pet has a mini-biography telling you a bit about them and their personality. Voters can vote once daily during the voting period in any of the three categories. Voting is free; you do not need to be a Nationwide Insurance member.
The exotic pet category includes familiar species, such as rabbits, ferrets, birds, and unusual pets. What makes them all stand out is their unique and creative names. Boo Boo Bean is a bouncy little ferret who got his name for his haphazard way of bouncing around like a jumping bean. A tortoise named Midsize Sedan lives up to her name by being reliable, dependable, and speedy when she needs to be. Some cat names in the running include Samsung Family Hub Refrigerator, Steph Purry, Car Alarm, and Itty Bitty Kitty Committee. Among the dogs competing are ChugChug Pickles, LuLu the Conqueror, Molly from Corporate, and Lord Waddles. Don’t judge a pet by the name, though. These critters are all adorable, even when their names are based on appearance.
