4-Yr-Old With Down Syndrome Conquers Fear By Walking Down Stairs For 1st Time.

Love is all Kavita Baluni and Himanshu Kaktwan felt when they first saw photos of 15-month-old Veda.

While their parents warned them against adopting a child, especially one with special needs, they knew this precious little girl with Down syndrome was meant to be their daughter.

The toddler became an official member of their family in 2017. Back then, she was underweight and couldn’t hold her neck up. She also had eye problems and weak muscles because of a condition called hypotonia.

Kavita and Himanshu knew she might never walk, but thanks to their loving care, Veda has blossomed into the happy 4-year-old she is today.

Her dedicated parents make sure their little one has all the tools she needs to thrive, which means she goes to occupational, speech, and physical therapy. While their journey hasn’t been easy, they’ve always believed in Veda, which has helped her believe in herself!

Their love and support not only fueled Veda’s determination to walk, but it also encouraged her to reach another unexpected milestone.

In February, Kavita shared a video of Veda taking on a difficult challenge: stepping down a flight of stairs.

“This mighty girl put on a brave face today and tried her best to step down with some support, which is the toughest thing for her right now,” her mom wrote. “She was REALLY scared, and it took her half an hour to try.”

But Veda eventually worked up her courage – and succeeded! Taking step after step, she fought her fears and made it all the way to the bottom on her own!

“It means she believes in herself… and that’s an achievement for us. Go Veda!” her proud mom added.
